I can&...How can you argue it isn't expensive ?

I can't see any nuclear project in the West that isn't way over budget and way behind schedule.

Wind is already cheaper and solar is in a lot of regions too...Big Gavhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00682404837426502876noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9864176.post-19458132780199542212011-12-17T01:34:38.441+11:002011-12-17T01:34:38.441+11:00Well, BG, I have to disagree with you on this one....Well, BG, I have to disagree with you on this one. And, since this is not the first time that I have argued, you know in which circular file to place this. (OTOH, I would appreciate if you would stay in your pen.)

Anyway, I think your introduction to the story was wrong, i.e. nuclear power expensive and unnecessary. I don't like it either and at one time I made a living by working in the Health Physics Department of a nuclear power station in Virginia (United States).

It's dirty.

If you ignore that, then it not expensive, rather in the U.S. it currently is the lowest costing electric power.

Secondly, since we are now entering the start of the Anthropocene -- and in Upstate New York (where the flooding was the 2nd worst disaster in the U.S. this year) just before Christmas, a neighbor is wondering if she can wear shorts and sandals -- so to switch from electric power that is arrogantly (see the move to totalitarianism in the U.S.) -- and heedlessly contributing to the end of life on the Planet as we know it (Yes this means you have a responsibility to warn your great grandchildren) -- indeed the continuation of nuclear power is necessary.

So, on this one I agree with Barry (President Obama) and disagree with the reptilian Peak Energy. If they could get the nuclear power from recyclable material with which one is unable to make bombs, so much the better. There certainly is a great deal of arrogance among these suppliers, also (see Tennessee Valley Authority, for example).jcwinniehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08881601751116927460noreply@blogger.com
