Feeding The Gorgon
Posted by Big Gav
The Herald reports that the Gorgon project has now moved into the FEED stage. It seems they are still pursuing the undesirable option of locating the processing facilities on the Barrow Island wildlife reserve rather than on the mainland (with Karratha being the obvious location given all the infrastructure currently in place there).
Development of the $11 billion Greater Gorgon gas project has reached a milestone with the three owners moving the project into the front end engineering and design phase. Joint owners, Chevron, Shell and ExxonMobil, are considering a two train LNG facility and a domestic gas plant on Barrow Island.
The project is estimated to contain 40 trillion cubic feet of recoverable natural gas. A development decision is expected after the current phase with first gas scheduled for 2009 or 2010.
