ASPO A CIA Front ?

Posted by Big Gav

Here's one from the lunatic fringe - claiming that the ASPO is a CIA front (the exact purpose of which isn't made clear).

A rather big list of sites are similarly accused of some nefarious purpose - it seems to largely be one of those bizarre internecine fights in the 911 conspiracy theory world - innocent bystanders caught up in the crossfire include George Monbiot, Jay Hanson, Ralph Nader, Democracy Now, Air America (which would be kind of ironic if it was actually true), MoveOn, CommonDreams and AntiWar.com, along with a long rollcall of conspiracy theory sites (including the most noteworthy peak oil related ones), most of which I've never heard of.

Maybe the author is a wingnut 911 conspiracy theorist ? I hadn't realised there were any...

By the way, thanks for the tip about RI a while back. Great blog.

I saw that list and shook my head. As far as I can see, it is hooey.

Although, really the only 9-11 "conspiricy" site I read with any regularity other than RI is From the Wilderness...

And given their ties to congresswoman Cynthia M, I somehow doubt any ties to the CIA other than as a target.

But the CIA has its own problems these days.

Yeah - all complete nonsense but I thought it would add a bit of colour.

I don't even read FTW very often, let alone the others of that genre (I get more than enough of that stuff from some of the energy discussion groups), but RI is by far the best conspiracy site I've come across - it sort of blew away my preconceptions that most of these guys really do wear tin-foil hats or at the very least are well intentioned but rather paranoid.

But I'd still prefer to believe that most of the stuff they dig up isn't true...

As for the CIA, its quite weird feeling sorry for the old-school reality based CIA guys. And god (should he/she exist) knows what the new breed of neocon CIA agent will be capable of.
