Mission Accomplished - Five Year Anniversary  

Jonathan at Past Peak hasn't had too many jokes up lately, but he's found the strength to pop up a new Bush joke at last. Maybe a McCain presidency would have a small silver lining - lots more opportunities for mockery.

While George W Bush has without doubt been the biggest tool to ever disgrace the US presidency (a race not without strong competition), this particular PR stunt may have been his most laughable. Of course his cronies are immeasurably richer now, so perhaps it hasn't been an entirely abject failure from that point of view.

I don't know if you're aware of this. We just passed a big milestone yesterday. True story. Yesterday was the five-year anniversary of President Bush's speech in front of the "Mission Accomplished" banner. Yeah, to celebrate, today, President Bush gave a speech in front of a banner that said "Economic Recession Over." — Conan O'Brien
