Ya gotta love a country that turns a Segway into a tool of oppressing the masses... I can envision a drunk man with shopping bags trying to block their path

Why that idea didn't get squashed at the first demo is beyond me. I think the air in Beijing is worse than they tell us.
I must admit the Segways look utterly impractical for this sort of job, but its a cool photo.
Maybe its more evidence that Big Brother really is hopelessly incompetent, and thus mostly to be feared for exactly that reason - stupidity rather than malice (the "Brazil" theory).
As for Beijing air, I had a friend visit there a month or two back and he said it was fine - all the western news media stories were overblown.
Yikes - good point - we're on the way.
Always loved the Daleks when I was a kid - and later on that Far Side cartoon showing the Daleks admitting defeat when faced with a flight of stairs.
