Bloomberg reports that George Soros is looking to funnel some cash into cleantech investent - George Soros to Invest $1 Billion in Clean-Energy Technology .

Billionaire George Soros will invest $1 billion in clean-energy technology, he said today.

Soros, speaking in Copenhagen, said he has “the ability to put money to work.” It will involve the establishment of a new climate policy institute. “The problem of global warming is primarily a political problem at this point,” he said in an e-mailed message.

Oh grand, somehow I'm rather suspicious of a guy who allowed his home country's economy to be screwed up cos he didn't pay his fine for corporate crime and helped staged revolutions in Georgia, Serbia and the like(Not that I don't think Miloseivc was innocent, but really.)

Umm - which is his home country (Hungary or the US ?) and when did he screw it up ?

As for the colour revolutions, its hard to tell if he was simply furthering US imperialism or genuinely believes in open society / liberal democracy.

I suspect the latter - he mostly seems OK to me - but of course his actions do serve US geopolitical interests as well, so skepticism is warranted I guess.
