Australia's Renewable Energy Future

I'm still waiting to see the forthcoming report on Australia's renewable energy future from the Australian Academy of Science. In the meantime, I came across this series of lectures, which the report will presumably be based on.

The series includes lectures on :

The wave energy one is interesting. Dr Tom Denniss of Oceanlinx presented a new design of the oscillating water column generator.

They have removed the 'focusing wall' and the plan is to use resonance to increase the water motion in the tube. The anticipated upper size for each unit is 2MW.

The talk also mentions predictability of waves (up to 4 days) and lack of synchronicity with wind (a good thing).
