Meter trial to teach energy savvy to WA consumers

The ABC has an article on a smart meter trial in Western Australia - Meter trial to teach energy savvy.

Almost 9,000 households in Perth's eastern region are part of a three year trial which allows them to monitor their power usage. Western Power and the Federal Government have jointly funded the $15 million scheme which involves replacing existing power meters with smart meters.

The new meters are designed to tell consumers how much power they are using each day. Householders will be able to monitor their power usage every half an hour. ...

Western Power's Managing Director Doug Aberle says the technology is a step towards WA becoming more sustainable. Mr Aberle says information about how energy is being used has not been visible until now.
